Listing & Conduct Standards
1. Why This Exists
A property portal is only worth using if the listing on the screen is the property at the door. These standards are what we hold every listing, owner, agent, and service provider to. They are part of our Terms, so breaking them can cost you a listing or an account.
They are written for the Qatar market and apply whether you advertise one flat or a thousand.
2. A Listing Must Be True
- Real and available. Advertise a property that exists and can be viewed. Take it down, or mark it let, the day it goes.
- Priced honestly. The rent shown is the rent asked. If the price excludes utilities, commission, or a municipality charge, say so in the listing rather than at the viewing.
- Correctly located. Use the actual zone and building. "Near The Pearl" is not The Pearl.
- Accurately described. Bedrooms, bathrooms, area, floor, furnishing, and parking as they are. A maid's room is not a bedroom.
- Honestly photographed. Photographs of this property, taken in its current condition. No renders passed off as photographs, no stock images of a different building, no shots that hide a defect you would have to disclose at the viewing.
- One listing per property. Duplicates to climb the results are removed.
Never post: a property you cannot let, a price you will not honour, or a listing whose only purpose is to collect enquiries. Bait advertising ends an account.
3. You Must Have the Right to Advertise It
- You are the owner, or you hold the owner's authority to market the property.
- You are not advertising a property in breach of an existing lease, or subletting where the lease or Qatari law forbids it.
- You are not re-advertising another agent's listing, photographs, or description as your own.
- If you are an agency, the account and the contact details belong to the agency or to a named agent within it — not to an unnamed intermediary.
4. Fair Dealing
Every user on this platform is a person looking for somewhere to live or someone to fix something. Treat them accordingly.
- Reply or release. If you cannot help an enquirer, say so, so they can move on.
- No discrimination. Do not accept, refuse, or price a tenancy by reference to a person's nationality, race, religion, gender, or family status, and do not write those restrictions into a listing — except where Qatari law itself imposes a restriction, which must then be stated plainly and accurately.
- Quote before you work. Service providers agree the price and the scope with the customer before starting.
- Disclose your fee. Commission and agency fees are stated up front, not revealed at signing.
- No pressure. Manufactured urgency — "three other people are paying today" — has no place in a viewing.
5. Contact Details and Messages
- A contact number in a listing must be a number you answer.
- A phone number you receive through an enquiry is for that enquiry. Adding it to a marketing list, a WhatsApp broadcast, or a database you sell breaches these standards and Qatar's Personal Data Protection Law.
- Do not exchange or resell user contact details, and do not scrape them from the Platform.
- Marketing messages need consent, and must stop the moment someone asks.
6. Verification and Documents
Owner, agent, and service provider roles are reviewed before they are marked verified. Submit documents that are yours, current, and unaltered — a QID, a trade licence, or an authority to market, as the role requires.
A forged or borrowed document ends the account permanently. Documents are handled under our Privacy Policy and are not published.
A verified badge says we checked the paperwork at a point in time. It is not our guarantee of anyone's conduct, and any user should still exercise their own judgment.
7. Money and Safety
Yellowkey processes no payments. Everything paid is paid directly between the parties, so both sides carry the risk and both sides should be careful.
- Do not ask for money before a property has been viewed, and do not pay it.
- Do not ask a seeker to transfer a "reservation fee" to a personal account to hold a property.
- Do not ask anyone to pay Yellowkey for a listing. We will never ask a user to send money to a personal account, and no member of our staff will ask for your password or a one-time passcode.
- Issue a receipt for every amount you take, and record deposits in writing.
If someone breaks any of this, report it to support@yellowkey.qa before you pay anything.
8. Adverts We Collected, Not You
Some adverts on the Platform were gathered from public property groups and are shown unverified until their owner claims them. Two rules follow from that:
- Claim only an advert that is genuinely yours. Claiming requires verifying the phone number printed in the advert, and attempting to claim someone else's is treated as impersonation.
- If an advert concerns your property and you want it gone, write to privacy@yellowkey.qa. We remove it — you do not need an account and you do not need to claim it first.
9. Reporting a Problem
Tell us at support@yellowkey.qa. Include the listing link or the account name, what happened, and any screenshots. If money has been taken from you by deception, report it to the authorities as well — we will provide the records we hold to a proper request.
We do not publish the identity of the person who reported a listing.
10. How We Enforce This
What we do depends on what happened and whether it has happened before:
- Correction. A first inaccuracy: we ask you to fix the listing, or we unpublish it until you do.
- Removal. The listing comes down, and repeated removals count against the account.
- Loss of verification. The badge is withdrawn and the role returns to pending.
- Suspension. The account cannot publish or message while we look into it.
- Permanent closure. For fraud, forged documents, impersonation, harassment, or bait advertising. Opening a new account to get around a closure is itself a breach.
Where it is reasonable to do so we tell you what the problem was and give you a chance to answer. If you think we got it wrong, reply to the notice and a different member of staff will review it.
